On Friday we spent the afternoon with our buddy class. We read a book about fairy bread together. Then we coloured it in. The final step was to make some fairy bread. It was delicious!

We are learning to use our Chromebook Keyboards

Today’s session was revising all the awesome digital dig’s covered with Whaea Naomi over the past 3x weeks. Our key focus’ have been learning how to navigate our device and Google apps to help us to do things faster.

• Raise & lower the volume, typing a capital letter, full screen, refresh page, searching apps, screen brightness and mute sound
• Taking a screenshot and uploading onto google slide
• Creating bookmarks
• Accessing personal  drive (learning folders), gmail, school website and class website

“Tread Lightly”  is a mobile environmental classroom which visits. schools in the Auckland region.

• • We learnt the difference between the stormwater and wastewater systems, where the different drains lead to, and the effects that pollutants, contaminants and rubbish entering the different systems has on freshwater and marine environments
  • We investigated how our use of water affects animals and organisms living in streams, with a special focus on stormwater, pollutants and litter.
  • We looked at how every day choices in an urban context (what we buy, how we travel, what we eat, how we use energy in our homes) can make a huge difference to our natural environment.
  • We discuss the importance of reducing, re-using and recycling and provide hands-on experience of sorting waste into specific bins
  • At the end of our session each child had a photo taken of their chosen tread lightly pledge – an action they will commit to, to make a positive difference to the environment.

“I loved our water fun day because it was all about having fun and enjoying ourselves. My favourite activity was when we got into our houses and we had to sort the balls into colours. My house TE RAKI won that activity because we got the fastest time.” Matilda

We have buddied up with RM 1, one of our New Entrant classes. Today we worked together to help our teina (little buddy) with writing and forming the letters in their name. Was so heart warming watching how patient and supportive they were❣️
